OpenLayer is the first modular authentic data layer designed to modernize traditional data flows. Contributed to by everyone and every device, OpenLayer offers a modular solution that coordinates data collection, validation, and transformation, catering to both web2 and web3 companies.

It has some unique properties:

• Decentralized - Everyone can contribute to the network using a laptop or mobile phone with minimal to no entry barriers.
• Permissionless - Any data can be added or consumed by anyone without being regulated.
• Authentic - Any accessible data is validated using cryptography technologies such as TLSNotary to ensure integrity.

We’re building the new paradigm for data usage across the value flow of millions of companies. OpenLayer enables many previously impossible ideas, serving as the infrastructure for the next chat-GPT moment product. Here are some examples:

• On-chain developers can access a new data feed from any off-chain data sources of their choice on a smart contract within 5 minutes.
• AI companies can amass datasets that are currently non-existent or difficult to access. This can be a massive advantage, using crypto as an incentive for users to contribute data.
• Web2 companies can execute a vampire attack on competitors by offering airdrops or benefits to users who can prove their activities or history with competitor products.

Our Story and Team

While working at Robinhood, the co-founders YJ, Charlie, and Kevin identified the issue of a flawed data layer, where data was trapped in the web2 walled garden, causing difficulties for users to manage it. This first-hand experience ignited their passion to solve this problem.

Including the co-founders, now there are 5 full-time team members and 5 part-time team members.
